A variety of hiking trails crisscross the Sandia Mountains, ranging from easy to difficult. For less experienced hikers, the Boundary Loop Trail is a good place to start. The trail weaves through Jaral Canyon for 4 miles and offers a lovely way to explore the landscape. But preparation is essential before hiking anywhere in New Mexico. Take food and plenty of water, and dress for the weather.
Horseback Riding With Red Horse Riding Company
Exploring the Corrales wilderness on horseback is a special experience. The Red Horse Riding Company offers trail riding along the Acequia and Rio Grande rivers. All rides are private and range from half and full-day rides to sunrise and moonlight rides.
Acequia Winery
Acequia Vineyards and Winery is the perfect place to learn more about Corrales’ long tradition of winemaking. While you’re there, it would be a shame not to sample some of the local wines. The tasting room at Acequia is open to the public and is also available for private tastings. There are monthly food and wine pairings, but you must book these ahead of time.

Las Ristras
You can’t go to New Mexico without indulging in some Southwestern food. At Las Ristras, the menu fuses Southwestern, American, and Mexican cuisine. Traditional favourites include the burrito plates and Frito pie.
Corrales Growers’ Market
To round off a relaxing weekend in Corrales, a Sunday morning visit to the Corrales Growers’ Market is a must. Pick up some fresh, seasonal produce or watch the world go by over a burrito bowl. It’s all for a good cause, as the market aims to support small farms and provide locally sourced food to the Corrales community.
